Initially the financial assistance was effected in conjunction with the Fulbright Commission, which also effected the academic-professional evaluation of the prospective candidates. In later years such evaluations are performed directly by the Board of Directors of the Fund, who serve without any form of remuneration. From January 1980 to May 2006 the Fund has made 333 of such “loan-grants” for masters degrees in Law (81), Business Administration (58), Engineering (52), International Relations (33), Economics (29), Literature/Cinema (24), M. Computer Science (16), M. Environmental Science (17), M. Public Policy (8) and other fields of study (15) (see the table below).

The Fund has also sponsored the constitution of an Italian MBA association (www.nova-mba.org) at Columbia University in 2000, which also includes student beneficiaries. The main objective of Nova MBA is to furnish useful information to new MBA students and to create a network in Italy and abroad among students and companies, and in organizing meetings and conferences. In 2002 the Fund also participated in the constitution of ALMA, an Italian LL.M. Association (www.llm.it). The successes achieved by the beneficiaries of the Fund in important Italian and international enterprises and professional firms is an augury for the continued and necessary support of the business and professional world.
From 1980 to 2005 contributions from sponsors amounted to Euro 424,362, received from the following principal donors (those over €5,000): Banco di Napoli, Carrozzeria Pininfarina, Chemical Bank, Citibank, Augusta Aeronautiche, Esso, Fiat, First National Bank of Chicago, Honeywell, IBM Italia, IBM Italia Foundation, Intersind (Assoc. of Italian Industry), La Rinascente (department stores) Lane G.
